Gene Long, M.D.
Dr. Long is an Augusta native who graduated from Westminster, and he’s excited to be back in his hometown as part of the Augusta Oncology team.
He graduated with his Doctor of Medicine degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2013 and completed his residency at the University of Tennessee in Nashville. Previously, Dr. Long was a Research Assistant at the Medical College of Georgia Cancer Center in the Michiko Shimoda Lab in 2009 where he assisted with bench research for a principal investigator.
He is a former Eagle Scout, Latin Teacher, and volunteer with the Peace Corps and has been published in the Journal of Immunology as well as the Journal of Investigative Medicine. Dr. Long completed his Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and he’s presently a member of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology.
When not at Augusta Oncology, Dr. Long enjoys baseball, tennis, and gardening.
